Our mission
Welfare where the animals already live
To promote and provide animal welfare and relief to the injured, lost, malnourished and abused cats and dogs — domestic and wild — on the Island of Sal, and where suitable, rehoming. To promote prevention of cruelty towards captured animals.
We are a group that has independently joined together to help the beautiful dogs and cats of Sal. They need our help, our support, and our hearts with them.

Food, emergency shelter, vet partnerships, neutering, and trustee-designed wheelchairs that keep otherwise healthy dogs alive.

Veterinary care & neutering
Tick, flea and worming treatments island-wide. Identify unneutered animals and arrange neutering through local vets to responsibly reduce feral populations.

Rehabilitation & rehoming
Custom wheelchairs — designed by a trustee and built by the organisation — for dogs that have lost the use of their legs. Where suitable, permanent loving homes in Cape Verde or Europe.

Three paths after illness or injury
Not every animal needs a new home. We choose the outcome that fits their life on Sal.
Path 01
Return to the wild
Community animals who are happy in their environment — treated, then returned to the places they already belong.
Path 02
Return to the owner
When a resident cannot afford vet care, we treat, neuter and vaccinate where needed, then return the animal — with food support if they are struggling.
Path 03
Rehome
When free-roaming life means malnourishment and sickness, we seek forever homes in Cape Verde or across Europe.
